Onshore isn’t just any Daytona Beach student housing. With Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University just minutes away, this property is for a specific type of student: science and space scholars with a sophisticated, future-minded approach to their college years.
After acquiring this property in 2022, the team at L3 Campus knew immediately the Onshore brand needed an update to better appeal to an intelligent and active student base.
Brand Identity System
Through brand discovery and strategy, we helped the L3 team put a new vision for the property in focus: a place where students can engage multidisciplinary interests, champion diverse minds, and be surrounded in an atmosphere that appreciates the latest in arts and tech. With a nod to the aeronautical nature of students’ studies, we landed on the creative brand idea of “connecting universes.”
With a brand personality leaning into a more intellectual, progressive, and top-tier mentality, Onshore was positioned to finally break away from its played-out “beach town” narrative.
A new student atmosphere
The new Onshore wordmark lends the brand a sophisticated simplicity and modernism. Black and white take lead in the color palette and are used for a sense of boldness, rather than neutrality. Sparing use of mint and purple accent colors feel a tad unexpected, and off the beaten path of primary colors. Bringing dimension to the design system is the brand’s “head-up display” inspired graphic language, vector-based iconography, and grid use that feels advanced and techy.
Ready for lift-off
We explored animation of the brand’s 16-segment display, patterns, and vector illustrations — movements and sequences that further bring to life the brand’s science-art-tech style sensibility.
Staying current and connected
For a speedy property transition, we equipped the Onshore team with an initiatory set of signage and marketing materials including a wayfinding sign system, community banner, leasing presentation, and custom map design. In a matter of weeks the property was able to complete its brand evolution, just in time for a final push for the fall leasing season.
